LEAK TEST (VACUUM BOX)
The Leak Test method in its Bubble Emission technique is performed on clean surfaces, with adequate light intensity and temperature according to the specifications of the leak detection solution, it is started by applying a leak detection solution to the test surface. which acts as a pressure barrier creating a pressure differential in it and continues with the placement of the hermetic box on this surface.
This hermetic box is connected by means of a hose to the vacuum pump which performs a vacuum pressure ranging from 6 in / Hg to 20 in / Hg which is checked by means of the integrated vacuum gauge, for the evaluation the surface is observed to determine that it is free of constant bubbling, which would indicate the presence of discontinuities that cross the thickness of the material, if necessary a white light lamp is used to intensify the illumination of the area.
Algunas de las ventajas que nos puede ofrecer este método son:
- Leakage can be detected with sizes from 10–2 to 10–4 Pa · m3 · s – 1 (10–1 to 10–3std cm3 · s – 1)
- Assurance for personnel working in a safe environment and avoiding the generation of a dangerous atmosphere that could affect health or cause the emission of dangerous fluids.
- Confirm the presence of leakage routes to the ground caused by a defect in the weld of the base of a tank. The release of hazardous chemicals could cause adverse effects on the environment.
The process
Request for information on the component to be examined, such as: manufacturing drawings, material specification, design drawing, as well as installation safety conditions.
Application of the procedure of the non-destructive method for the detection of probable discontinuities in materials
Characterization and dimensioning of indications found to determine their acceptance or rejection in accordance with the applicable regulations.
